James Kuhn is an artist from Michigan that self-described himself as a retired drag queen, white face clown, former nudist, born again Christian, and your average 46 year old guy. James creates some of the most incredible face paintings you’ll ever see. After attending Burning Man in Nevada, James completely changed the way he thinks about art and the way he makes it. He started a “365 transformations” project that consisted of him painting his face every day for a year.
“Forcing yourself to create art daily is a wonderful experience. Art should never be a product. It should be a gift of love and a prayer. Art is silly, and fun, and can be powerful and sacred. I do show in galleries, but selling should never be your motivation for creating art.” – James Kuhn
James claims face painting is the most exciting thing that has ever happened to him. His main tools of the trade are Kryolan Aqua Color, Snazaroo, and Paradise by Mehron. To stay updated with James, feel free to check out his Flickr account. Enjoy!
