– Top Questions & Answers –
How should I choose a cover photo for my Page?
Use a unique image that represents your Page. Get creative and think of ways to express your brand. This is the first image that people will see when they visit your timeline. Use this opportunity to create something clever. Be creative and experiment with images your audience responds well to. Cover images must be at least 399 pixels wide and may not contain:
Price or purchase information, such as “40% off” or “Download it at our website”
Contact information, such as web address, email, mailing address or other information intended for your Page’s About section
References to user interface elements, such as Like or Share, or any other Facebook site features
Calls to action, such as “Get it now” or “Tell your friends”
All cover images are public, which means anyone visiting your Page will be able to see the image you choose. Covers must not be false, deceptive or misleading, and must not infringe on third parties’ intellectual property. You may not encourage or incentivize people to upload your cover image to their personal timelines. Please be thoughtful and respect Facebook’s rules. After all they are the ones providing you with an incredible way to connect with potential customers, user, fans, and consumers.
What are the dimensions for my Page’s cover photo?
Cover photos are 851 pixels wide and 315 pixels tall. If you upload an image that’s smaller than these dimensions, it will get stretched to this larger size. The image you upload must be at least 399 pixels wide. So in simple words, in order to get the best quality upload the images in the exact pixels!
What is friend activity on a Facebook Page?
People who visit your Page will have a more personalized experience because they’ll see how their friends have interacted with you. For example, if someone tags you in one of their posts or checks in at your location, the people they originally shared with will see these stories highlighted for them on your Page’s timeline.
What’s the best way to get people to engage with my Page timeline?
Share updates, questions, photos, links and other content on your Page regularly. Post at least a few times a week so people who like you see your stories in their news feeds, and visitors to your Page always see something new. Make sure people notice your most important content by pinning posts to the top of your Page or starring them so they’re bigger. When people engage with you, make sure to respond so they know you’re listening.
What’s a milestone?
Milestones are key moments you’ve decided to highlight on your Page. Milestones are automatically expanded to wide-screen and are visible to everyone visiting your Page.
To add a milestone:
- Click Milestone in the sharing tool at the top of your Page’s timeline
- Add a headline, location, date and details for your milestone
- Choose to add a photo
- Click Save
From anywhere on your Page’s timeline, scroll to a spot and click to post a milestone or other type of story to a particular date. Keep in mind that Milestone photos display at 843 pixels wide and 403 pixels tall.
What’s a pinned post?
Pinned posts are Page posts that admins have chosen to display prominently at the top of their Page. A pinned post always appears in the top left of a Page’s timeline and has a flag in its top-right corner. A post a Page admin pins to the top of their Page will remain there for 7 days.
As an example, let’s say you are running a giveaway for those seven days. After that, it’ll return to the date it was posted on the Page’s timeline. Posts from people who like a Page are not eligible to be pinned posts. Page admins can only pin posts created by the Page.
How do I star a post on my Page to make it bigger?
You can highlight any post on your Page by starring it:
- Hover over a story on your Page’s timeline
This allows you to highlight the posts you think are important. When you star a post, it expands to widescreen.
How do I change the default landing view for people visiting my Page?
For Pages with timelines, people will always see the timeline view of your Page when they visit it. Views and apps are now easy to find right below your Page’s cover. You can’t change the default landing view to another view or app, but you can link people directly to a particular view or app on your Page. Find the URL for a view or app on your Page in the web address bar of your browser when you visit that view or app.

Stepping on businesses toes without considerations, is not really encouraging. Who knows, maybe there will another iteration again in a few months or so…
