Inspirational Steve Jobs Quotes to Live By

“Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.”

“You can’t just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they’ll want something new.”

Your time on this earth is limited, don’t live someone else’s life, live by your vision.

Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose.

“Greatness is communicated in everything you do.”

Design is not just what it looks like. Design is how it works.

Good artists copy. Great artists steal.

“Remembering that you are going to die is the best way to know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.”

Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.

“It comes from saying no to 1,000 things to make sure we don’t get on the wrong track or try to do too much.”

“Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn’t matter to me … Going to bed at night saying we’ve done something wonderful… that’s what matters to me.”

“But it’s a disservice to constantly put things in this radical new light — that it’s going to change everything. Things don’t have to change the world to be important.”

“Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

Do you want to sell sugar water for the rest of your life or do you want to come with me and change the world?

“Look at the design of a lot of consumer products — they’re really complicated surfaces. We tried to make something much more holistic and simple. When you first start off trying to solve a problem, the first solutions you come up with are very complex, and most people stop there. But if you keep going, and live with the problem and peel more layers of the onion off, you can often times arrive at some very elegant and simple solutions. Most people just don’t put in the time or energy to get there. We believe that customers are smart, and want objects which are well thought through.”

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

“Innovation has nothing to do with how many R&D dollars you have. When Apple came up with the Mac, IBM was spending at least 100 times more on R&D. It’s not about money. It’s about the people you have, how you’re led, and how much you get it.”

“In most people’s vocabularies, design means veneer. It’s interior decorating. It’s the fabric of the curtains and the sofa. But to me, nothing could be further from the meaning of design. Design is the fundamental soul of a man-made creation that ends up expressing itself in successive outer layers of the product or service.”

“Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn’t really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That’s because they were able to connect experiences they’ve had and synthesize new things. And the reason they were able to do that was that they’ve had more experiences or they have thought more about their experiences than other people.”

Sad Conclusion

Many companies that are rivals of Apple are paying a tribute to Steve Jobs. Very rare to see this publicly, but not for Steve. His visions have changed the world for the better. This sad news has made me think and realize that death is coming sooner than we might think. I strongly encourage everybody who is reading this to live every day to it’s full potential, and take ever opportunity that comes your way. Steve Jobs is an extraordinary person that has touched us all in some way or another. Can anybody else step up to the plate and fill his shoes? I highly doubt it….

And one more thing… you will always be remembered and serve as a role model to the human kind.

  1. Well done tribute, Igor.
Thank you for putting this together. I hope you do not mind me sharing it over my various Internet sites. I simply linked back here to this original post/blog.
So many of us have been impacted by Steve Jobs’ life and work and example.
    Blessings, j

  2. Fantastic piece Igor, i’ll be submitting my artwork in tribute to the great man. Sad to see him go, but glad i was alive at this magical time.

Excellent work and well put together Igor…
I have not gotten over the whole thing with Steve Jobs being gone yet… I feel like hopeless and sad because I doubt that in my lifetime I will see another great innovator like him. Just recently I have started doing something I couldn’t do as a kid and that enjoyed learning: ARTS. Although I did choose a career in computer electronics I ended up following procedures and doing things logically. Now iMacs is what we used in school for my Graphic Design classes and the freedom of creativity is what am shooting for.
    Good work…

  4. Really a sad moment, but he has left us all very “inspirational Products” ,all the creative minds will realize it & also dare to apply it.
Hardly there is any products in the World with perfect marriage of “Sophistication & Simplicity with great dynamic level” – which makes life easy for the user.

  5. Thank you Igor, brought tears to my eyes, reading and watching the various clips. As a designer, I find Steve to be a daily inspiration, and one I shall never ever forget. RIP Steve.
