This is a great list for designers, but I’d like to argue a little with you about the footer links tip. While it IS a good way to link your pages together if your main menu is flash or javascript, it’s just glossing over a bigger problem.

Menus that are flash or javascript dependent are simply inexcusable – many javascript features can be duplicated using CSS, and it’s easy to use SWFobject to ‘layer’ flash on top of an html/css menu. This way, if someone doesn’t have javascript or flash installed, they can still use your menu…and the bots can understand every link and read every bit of anchor text too.

Rather than advising footer links (which don’t really help that much SEO-wise on a ‘normal’ site), you should be explaining the importance of the concept ‘graceful degradation,’ a buzz-word at Google. At least that’s what I would advise as an SEO geek.
