35 Examples of Beautiful Sign Designs

There’s a local pizza restaurant in my town, that has the most hideous sign you can possibly imagine. For obvious reason, I’m not going to mention their name. Their quote on quote “sign,” if you can even call it that, is a huge piece of paper taped behind the glass and looks like it was drawn by a kid with crayons.

Let’s say I’m new in town and I want to grab some food. While driving by the pizza restaurant, I cannot see their sign because it’s already 8pm. Having no idea that this restaurants even exists, I settle for some cheap fast food right down the road. This kind of scenario could have been easily avoided if they had a lit up sign that communicated with me. This is common sense.

For a restaurant that’s been in business for over thirty years and has a 4.5 star review rating on Yelp, one would think that the owner can spend a couple hundred bucks on a beautiful sign. Right?

This little rant was for future/current business owners who are overlooking this simple yet strategic investment in their business. Being cheap and cutting corners is blatantly viewed as laziness. As a business owner, having an elegant sign will spark the consumer’s interest, lead them inside the store, and possibly turn them into a frequent customer.

Diamonds originate from the strong covalent bonding between its atoms. Diamonds have the highest hardness/thermal conductivity of any bulk material, and hold the ability to disperse light of different colors. Excellent optical and mechanical properties, combined with efficient marketing, make diamond the most popular gemstone.

Marketing has significantly affected the image of diamond as a valuable commodity. It generally showcases class and wealth of it’s owner. I’m sure you’ve heard it before, “Diamonds are forever.” This usually refers to the seventh James Bond film, released in 1971. The Popularity of diamonds has risen since the 19th century because of successful advertising in mainstream media.

While diamonds are beautiful and serve are a girl’s best friend, there is an ugly truth that most people are blind to see. The diamond slavery in Africa is extremely disgusting and should be always on your mind while shopping for your special someone. Inspiration mix is a roundup of inspirational designs based on a specific niche. When designers are in search of inspiration, going from site to site and typing in specific search queries in Google is daunting. To solve this problem we combine some of the best designs based on specific topic and give you high quality inspiration all in one place. So if you are in charge of designing a business card, logo, poster, brochure, website, or anything else, this is your go to resource.

Today we will be taking a look at environmental designs. Environmentally friendly (also eco-friendly, nature friendly, and green) are ambiguous terms used to refer to goods and services, laws, guidelines and policies claimed to inflict minimal or no harm on the environment. Companies sometimes use these terms to promote goods and services by making environmental marketing claims and with eco-labels.

Let’s use Apple as an example. Apple designs products that are energy-efficient, free of many harmful toxins, and highly recyclable. By having the environment in mind, consumers will feel better about buying your products. Apple takes a complete product life cycle approach to determining their environmental impact. You and I can clearly see that they care about the environment, and went the extra mile to engineer recyclable products that also meet EPA requirements.

40 Highly Detailed Mac Icons

Icon designs can be simple, with flat two-dimensional drawing or a black silhouette, or complex, presenting a combination of graphic design elements such as one or more linear and radial color gradients, projected shadows, contour shades, and three-dimensional perspective effects.

In order to maintain consistency in the look of a device, OS manufacturers offer detailed guidelines for the development and use of icons on their systems. This is true for both standard system icons and third party application icons to be included in the system. The system icons currently in use have typically gone through widespread international acceptance and testing.

Regardless of the operating system application icons are all generally unique, so they stand out from one another. Folder icons help you identify what’s inside of them. File icons generally display a document with an application logo that lets you know what application created it or is the default to open it.

Icon design factors have also been the topic for extensive usability studies. The design itself involves a high level of skill in combining an attractive graphic design with the required usability features. Icons are meant to look like the item that they represent. The icon needs to be clear and easily recognizable, able to display on monitors of widely varying size and resolutions.

Designing Tips:

The shape should be simple with clean lines, without too much detailing in the design.
Clearly distinguishable from other icons.
The icon needs to be colorful enough to easily pick out on the display screen
The icon needs to be displayed in a standard color which cannot be modified, retaining its characteristic appearance for immediate recognition by the user.
Through color it should also provide some visual indicator as to the icon state; activated, available or currently not accessible.
The width and height of the icon are the same (1:1 aspect ratio) in almost all areas of traditional use.

One of the early professional icon designers was Susan Kare, who designed many of the icons contained within the original Mac OS.
