If you find yourself at a crossroads and are unsure of your life’s purpose; do not fret. After all, understanding ourselves is one of the most difficult things in life. It is important to remember that because we are always changing, the path to self-awareness, enlightenment, and acceptance often need to be retaken and reexamined. Life comes with its challenges, and even if you may be having a difficult time, there is always hope.

Analyze Yourself

The first thing you should do before you strive to find your own purpose is to analyze yourself. Spending time alone is essential. If you are not happy with something in your life, identify it. If you are happy with at least something in your life, identify it too. It is prudent to write all of these things down. Once you have a list, try to pick up on tendencies. Do you tend to put yourself down? Do you notice that you place a lot of your happiness on the expectations or believed expectations of others?

Separate Yourself From Others

There are important people in our lives. There are also the mind frames created by larger entities (such as culture or religion) that can play a huge factor in your life. However, these things should not rule you or define your purpose. Your purpose cannot depend on anything exterior to you. Identify that these things do not concern you when it comes to your purpose.

Find Your Passions

Once you are in this mind frame and are more aware of how you have lived your life, it is time to discover what makes you happy, and what things about you are unique and special. Write down a list of activities or subjects or anything in the world that brings you joy. The things that make you truly happy in life are your passions. These are most important in order for one to live a life full of purpose. This could be all that you need to figure out what it is you should be doing to give you satisfaction.

Find Your Urge

Write down another list involving the people you look up to and admire. Although it is necessary that you separate yourself from others, this separation is only bad when the dependency is based off of expectations and fear. When these connections inspire, they are crucial to keep close to you. This is because the people we admire have accomplishments or traits you would either like to achieve or adapt as your own.

This is a non-conformist tactic when and only when doing these things satisfies your mind, body, and soul. Do not try to imitate because of fear. To live a life of passion, everything must feel genuinely you as well. Once you assume this, write down why you admire the people you do, and what about them you feel would satiate your being.

Find Your Genius

You have many remarkable traits you may not be aware of. In another list, name all of the things in your life that have come easily to you. These may just be personality traits. Chances are you may have taken these traits for granted. When you find out what your great traits are, use them in your everyday life to get you ahead in all your areas of life.

These traits are things that you use effortlessly while many others cannot. If you are a good speaker, for example, awareness of it will be helpful to you at the work place, at relationships, and more. Awareness will give you more confidence and will in turn give you a stronger sense of self.

Begin To Accomplish

Keep all of the lists mentioned above and complete one task everyday. If what you accomplish exhilarates you and brings you happiness, then you are on the way to finding your purpose. If it brings you dread, or makes you tired, rethink your path and try new things. Incorporate more of these passions, urges, and geniuses, and soon enough, your life purpose will unfold.

Finding your purpose is rarely simple, but when you find it, it will bring you the utmost satisfaction, passion, and joy. This is no over-night process. Take your time and be easy on yourself. Eventually, you will find just the thing you are meant to do. Remember to never give up!

While it is true that we may have family, friends, and other loved ones to count on, it can be easy to forget that we are all that we have.

You have the power to change your life. It is never too late to begin anew, nor is it too late to alter your path. Humans change: that’s a good thing. Life would be pretty boring with out it.

Good luck with your journey!
