20 Incredible Examples of The Minimalist Effect

Sometimes being minimalistic is a wiser choice for you product. Our current industry is filled with millions of different designs and product variations. Even though some are vivid and attractive, others seem a little overdone kind of like this video. The folks over at A2591 took on a lovely project of trying to simplify the branding of some major products, and have come up with the minimalistic outcomes below.

It’s stunning to see the difference from start to finish. With these examples we hope that more people understand how simple things can make an impact too. However that being said some people still think this kind of minimal design looks unappealing/generic and has no personality. What are your thoughts on this topic? In my opinion less is more. I was most attracted to the middle option though.

Why do they have to all end up with Helvetica?

Intersting how this article makes me reaaly take note of just how chaotic most package design is. Only a few of these benefit from the full simplification effect, namely Durex, Linett, Schwepps and (oddly) Duracell. The rest look best at the next-to-last version.

I like seeing the food on the packages,& other bright colors, the minmalist equals boring

I see this as a positive.

Most of these packaging designs take minimalism too far, sacrificing shelf appeal for cheaper marketing and branding costs, in the end, less of your product is sold. As any designer knows, (myself included) K.I.S.S (Keep It Simple, Stupid) are words to live by, but have to be applied to the right product.

i prefer the product quality within the package, not what it looks like on the outside, if you bought a bag of peanuts you expects peanuts, not a colourful package, how many of you would be more annoyed that a plug extention socket came out of your bag of peanuts then the colour being simplified?

It’s quite clearly Lindt, not Linett…
