Nosego
Philadelphia’s resident surrealist, Yis “Nosego” Goodwin, doesn’t concern himself political upheaval or social reform. Instead, he uses his dreamlike, childish imagery to uplift his surrounding community and brighten up the harsh Philly streets. After turning heads in 2010 at an exhibition at the Vincent Michael Gallery in Philadelphia, Nosego has blown up as one of America’s premier street-artists-gone-graphic designer. His many collaborations with the likes of Broken Compass Studios, and local band, Lotus, has put him on the map and then some, garnering him his first solo show in the UK later this year.
Whether it’s incendiary images on walls around the world, or merely well-placed, imaginative design, street art in the 21st century is here to stay. Self-expression has reached previously unforeseeable heights in 2013 and only continues to evolve. So, keep an eye out, it is often the ones you are blind to that are the most prolific.
