Diamonds originate from the strong covalent bonding between its atoms. Diamonds have the highest hardness/thermal conductivity of any bulk material, and hold the ability to disperse light of different colors. Excellent optical and mechanical properties, combined with efficient marketing, make diamond the most popular gemstone.

Marketing has significantly affected the image of diamond as a valuable commodity. It generally showcases class and wealth of it’s owner. I’m sure you’ve heard it before, “Diamonds are forever.” This usually refers to the seventh James Bond film, released in 1971. The Popularity of diamonds has risen since the 19th century because of successful advertising in mainstream media.

While diamonds are beautiful and serve are a girl’s best friend, there is an ugly truth that most people are blind to see. The diamond slavery in Africa is extremely disgusting and should be always on your mind while shopping for your special someone.
