Each year Google changes its algorithm more than 500 times, giving each update a unique name. People, cities or states, animals, drinks or such ones that sound extremely funny.
For example, the first named update is the Boston update from 2003. Its purpose is to separate the quality sites from the low-quality sites. The last of the regular monthly updates in June the same year has name that sounds pretty delicate – Esmeralda. It makes sense that one of the biggest Google updates throughout the years is called after such a big animal like Panda. And when you are thinking about having a glass of brandy, don’t mix it with the update that achieved major changes in the keyword analysis – The Brandy update. Next time when you ask an IT “Who is your Daddy?” don’t be surprised if you get the answer “The Big Daddy update”.
