30+ Examples of Luxurious Car Photography
If you had a choice between two different cars that have the same specs but one has a sexier design, which one would you choose? Probably the good looking one right? For the non-wealthy, we focus on fuel economy, safety, reliability and other important features that the car offers. When luxury is out of the question, the most important thing is getting from point A to point B. This is not a shot at anybody, it’s just a commonly known factor.
Personal proof: I have a Honda Accord. Why? Reliability, 33MPG and low repair cost.
It’s quite obvious that when we purchase cars we want to be seen as them. Now I know that might sound a bit weird, however this is 100% true. Let me explain: It’s a known fact that the human brain processes objects of interest as human faces. This explains exactly why people often relate mountain cliffs, weirdly shaped clouds and other everyday objects to a human face. Purchasing a vehicle is much more that saying, “Wow, that’s a hot whip.”
Without getting into an argument about religion or spiritual beliefs, I think we can safely agree that we all have a soul. Your soul controls your body, and your body controls the car. Our purchasing decision relies on emotional expression and how we think we will look while driving the car.
A car’s design goes through numerous stages and comes out as a piece of art. Ideas were thrown out, as well as implemented, all for the sake of a better driving experience. They say diamonds are a woman’s best friend. If so, then cars play the same role for men.
Luxury Car photography is a challenging assignment. Your main goal is to leave a touching image in the viewers head. Background, motion, time of day and weather are all aspects you need to think about. Style, class and luxury are all points that you are trying to send across.
Great patience and a lot of practice is needed before you can truly bring out the action and elegance in car photography. Panning shots are probably the most challenging. In photography panning refers to the rotation in a horizontal plane of a still or video camera. Panning a camera results in a motion similar to that of someone shaking their head “no” or of an aircraft performing a yaw rotation.
“What kind of background is ideal?” To answer that question you need to figure out the message you want to get across.
Are you trying to sell speed and power?
Then photograph the vehicle on the highway, race track or curvy back roads.
Everyday use in the city?
Photograph the car parked on a busy street, in traffic, or going through a drive thru. People complete corresponding tasks in their life, therefore this relates to almost everybody.
Photograph the car next to a famous monument, beautiful scenery or a huge mansion.
