Jack Hughes is a freelance illustrator based in Thames, London. As a child, his love art outweighed every other interest. So after he graduated from High School, Jack enrolled in a Foundation Degree at Wimbledon College of Art. After one year, Jack was fortunate enough to be accepted into the Illustration course at Kingston University. During his London degree show, Jack was scouted by illustration agency YCN. He has been freelancing for them ever since.
It’s kinda hard to pin point Jack’s exact style, but one could argue that his work is heavily influenced by mid-century design. If you’ve ever seen Mad Men on AMC, then this is the simplest example I can use to describe his work. His every project usually starts with conceptual illustrations in his sketchbook. After all mental blocks and avenues are explored his ideas are finalized in Photoshop.
What I love most about Jack’s work is his color use. It’s very attractive to the eye and could be described as sexy/mysterious. You can see more of Jack’s work on his newly redesigned portfolio. I hope you’ll enjoy his work as much as I did!
