Ice cubes are small, cube-shaped parts of ice used to cool regular and mixed drinks. Ice cubes are made by filling a tray with water and putting it in a freezer. Even though he was not trying to cool drinks, John Gorrie is the creator of ice cubes.
Back in 1844 Gorrie built a refrigerator to be able to cool air. His refrigerator made ice, which he hung from the ceiling in a basin. He used the ice to cool the room’s temperature. During that time, people thought that bad air quality made people sick. So, to help treat sickness, he advocated for the draining of swamps and the cooling of sickrooms.
The first rubber ice cube tray was made by Lloyd Groff Copeman in 1928, and the first flexible, stainless steel, all-metal ice cube tray was made by Guy L. Tinkham in 1933. I guess you can say that ice cubes/trays have come along way, since 1844.
Today you can literally have any kind of ice shape you desire. You can search for them online, or dish out a few thousand dollars for a 3D printer and create whatever you wish. Today we collected twenty creative ice cube tray for your home. Enjoy!
