Motion graphics are graphics that use video footage and/or animation technology to create the illusion of motion or rotation, graphics are usually combined with audio for use in multimedia projects. Motion graphics are usually displayed via electronic media technology, but may be displayed via manual powered technology (e.g. thaumatrope, phenakistoscope, stroboscope, zoetrope, praxinoscope, flip book) as well.
The term is useful for distinguishing still graphics from graphics with a transforming appearance over time without over-specifying the form. Motion graphics extend beyond the most commonly used methods of frame-by-frame footage and animation. Computers are capable of calculating and randomizing changes in imagery to create the illusion of motion and transformation. Not only are the following videos are inspiring, there are also very entertaining. Enjoy!
The Forty Story
The story of a boy born on the day Pentagram opened and how his life has been tracked (and kerned) by forty years of Pentagram design.
How to Train Your Dragon – Live Projections
In March 2012, Global Creatures teamed with Dreamworks to launch a live theatrical show based on the film “How To Train Your Dragon.” Spinifex Group was contracted to develop the graphic content for the entire show. The brief was to take the movie from its original look and portray it in a more illustrative style.
The challenges focused around timing the animation to match the choreography of the actors and dragons, while also maintaining a sense of scale and balance between the animatronic creatures and the projected content. In addition, the animation needed to move as one seamless scene across both the wall and floor, serving as a complete theatre set–a first of its kind.

CS6 Stinger
Adobe’s launch of CS6 and The Creative Cloud represents a huge paradigm shift for their whole creative suite line. To celebrate this re-thinking of the creative process, they reached out to some incredible artists to develop imagery for each product and each Suite family. When they came to us to develop a stinger video to introduce The Creative Cloud and CS6, they brought along all of the stunning artist imagery and a wide open playground for us to visually tell the launch story and inspire the audience. – Studio B Films

Spherikal
This is a small animation a did as an exercise to experiment and explore all the graphical possibilities of representing the idea of the SPHERE, always thinking in searching Gestalt and form. Its all done in 3d, but i was more interested in the graphical interest, flatten the surfaces, and only two colors, why more. The most difficult was to achieve the transitions between the different type of representation of the sphere, the morphing and metamorphosing.
