Banksy
What can be said about Banksy that hasn’t already been said? He is Bristol’s unsung hero of deviousness and creativity. His work has been seen around the world, including on the West Bank wall separating Israel and Palestine, sneakily placed in upscale museums and in exhibitions around his hometown and in the United States. Unfortunately many of his stencils have been torn down or destroyed by authorities and other artists throughout the years.
Most recently, his Slave Labour mural, depicting a child laborer sewing together Union Jack bunting, was stolen from its home in Wood Green, London only to appear in Fine Arts Miami’s latest catalogue. It remains to be seen what will become of the piece, but it appears to be heading back out to auction at the London Film Museum on June 2.
