There is more than one path to revenue for marketers. Google’s AdSense is one that makes a great deal of sense for many. Although, people have debated against it at times claiming it’s a PPC (pay per click) model, and requiring multiple ‘clicks’ to come close to the same revenue that a solitary affiliate transaction could generate. That argument actually has some validity to it.
However, all websites are not created for the purpose of affiliate programs.
In other words, not all sites are dependent on a service or a product to sell. They might not be selling the latest software, exercise equipment, or cell phones. Some are informative sites, such as many of the blogs that exist on the web.
Even so, blogs are just one example of the type of sites I am talking about. Just a little while ago I was working on a little backlinking for Joan Mylchreest. Joan worked in sales for an interior design company, until they went bankrupt. She realized she could take from her experience and started her website, AllWallDecor.com.
Joan was able to do this because she has knowledge that other people are continually seeking…expertise in wall décor. And, her site was born.
Getting Started… the Easy Way
Let’s first discuss how you can get a decent website, easily. Wordpress is an amazing way to build a website that could turn from a form of entertainment, to a full time business. Their plugins and themes allow anyone to take an amateur site to the professional level, easily.
With Wordpress, you will be able to enhance your site with things such as contact forms, images, and ad management.
These plugins will make it much easier to develop and maintain your site. For example, advertising can be automatically removed once it expires. Images can be adjusted to the optimum size for quicker loading, also…automatically.
All this means that you won’t have to spend time doing it yourself, and can then focus your time on other matters, such as content development. Wordpress shows you how to make a website, with a professional flair, so you can move on to other significant parts of the trade.
The Long-Arm Approach is Not Necessarily Effective for an Affiliate Product
When working with SEO (search engine optimization), the first thing you need to consider is using your keyword phrase directly in your domain name. For Joan, it is ‘wall décor’, which is a very broad term. It happens to encase all forms of wall décor, such as wallpaper, mirrors, paintings, and tapestries. It could even include rare and unusual findings that you personally might not consider ‘décor’ at all…but, somebody else might.
What I am trying to point out here is that if your domain name is too vague, it doesn’t allow it to zero in on the promotion of a particular product. If your goal is just getting traffic, then it’s not an issue. However, if you are actually trying to sell a product, it’s not productive to simply bring in traffic.
On the Other Hand…
AdSense thrives on this form of content and traffic. If you have content that is informative and written with a purpose, it will be embraced by AdSense. The more pages you have, the more opportunities AdSense has to present applicable offers from its massive bank of advertisers.
How it works is that AdSense scours your pages, searching out keywords and phrases that advertisers have purchased. If the content is high quality, the keyword phrases could be included with a structured flow. However, you can increase your success with AdSense with some simple steps, as well as assist you with the SERP (Search Engine Results Page).
Read on to learn more about these steps.
Enhance Your Website for Maximum Results
When we want to enhance our websites, we obviously want to look at all the pages, and create content for each page that will do just that. It really doesn’t matter what type of site you have either. The following tips will help you to get the most out of what Google can do for your ranking, as well as advertising proceeds:
- Make sure your selected keyword or phrase is in the page title.
- Also make sure that it is located in the meta description, because Google will often place this right under your link. You have the option of writing a separate 160 characters to create a ‘punch’, or Google could use the first 160 characters of your content.
- Pay close attention to headlines, by including the keyword/phrase in h1, h2, and h3 tags.
- By adding images to your site pages, it allows Google to send you more traffic. However, add your keyword to the alt text to enhance it more.
- Place the keyword within the initial 90 characters of your content, and again in the ending paragraph, as well as letting it naturally fit in elsewhere. Just make sure it doesn’t go above 2% density.
- Internal and external links will also assist you with SERP. Using the keyword/phrase as an anchor text, you can direct traffic to an external site. You can then use a phrase of your choice to link to a relevant page in your own site, for internal linking.
With these simple tips you can experience significant benefit from Google. Your ranking will increase, as well as noticeable gains from your AdSense campaign.
One last thought I would like to leave you with is that even if you don’t have any desire to get involved with AdSense, but are not happy with your sales from your affiliate products, pay attention to your headlines and domain name. Make sure it’s not too broad in the sense of drawing people who will not benefit from reaching your page. If they don’t benefit, neither will you. At this point, you might want to reconsider trying AdSense and giving it a test run.
Well, that is my opinion on optimizing and enhancing website pages. I hope I have given you something to consider.
