How many times have you fought with your brother in this lifetime?
There will definitely be a few different answers to this question. Some may say that their brother is their biggest rival. This means that they probably compete in almost everything. And yes, these small competitions may have turned into big fights a few times.
Some would be lucky enough to say that they never fight with their brother. Some would roll their eyes and say that this is impossible, but who knows? There may be brothers who are awesome enough not to get in your way no matter what.
For others, they may remember a fight or two. But what they would remember the most are the moments when there are no fights.
Brothers are definitely special. No matter how many fights you’ve had with them, you’ll have to admit that your life just won’t be the same without them.
Here are some reasons why your brother could be one of the most important people in your life:
He’ll bully your boyfriends.
For girls, this can be such a nightmare. Can you imagine your brother answering the door when your first ever date (whom you’ve been crushing on for months) rings the bell? He’ll probably look at your date from head to toe and blurt out something completely inappropriate. He may threaten and bully them to a point where you just want the ground to swallow you up.
But you know what, men know men. Your brother can take one look at any guy and sniff out the good guys from the bad. And with your brother hoping to protect you (despite him constantly annoying you), he won’t have his sister dating some schmuck who’s only going to break your heart.
He’ll protect you.
Who do you run to when there are kids outside taking your lunch money from you? Whose name do you call when someone’s teasing you?
For some, their dads or moms may come to mind first. But if you have a tough brother, then he’s definitely the one who’ll come running.
Brothers may not be emotional and will not be as sweet to you as a mom or sister would be. But this is where he makes up for all those shortcomings. He’ll probably threaten to beat up the next guy who picks on you, and you’ll eventually be someone no one would want to mess with. They’ll know that a single screech from you would easily make their lives miserable.
He’ll give you the best laughs.
You’ve probably rolled your eyes at your brother a few times. For some reason, brothers are equipped with this innate sense of humor that will keep your tummy aching for hours. It may be in the form of a practical joke he’ll play on you.
He would also have a hundred jokes running through his brain every hour. His wittiness is something that both amazes and annoys you, and you wonder what could happen if he put all that brain juice into something more productive.
As annoying as your brother’s antics may be, somewhere down the line, these are the things you’ll remember the most. You’re all going to sit around the dinner table one day, with your own families in tow, all of them laughing as you share stories about how silly your brother was when you guys were younger. Trust me, these are the kinds of stories your children and grandchildren will look forward to hearing.
He’ll blackmail you.
If there’s one thing brothers are good at, it’s spying and stalking.
Your brother will always be the one who catches you when you’re sneaking out. He’s going to be the one reading your chat conversations with your friends, and he’ll know in an instant who you’re crushing on at the moment. He’ll know that you failed that exam and stashed the paper under your mattress. And once he needs something from you, he’ll use all that against you.
Yes, brothers can be master manipulators. He’ll use everything he has on you for you to give in to his demands. It can costs you an extra buck or two every week, or you may give in to him borrowing your iPad for an entire week. Whatever it takes to shut him up and keep him from revealing your deepest, darkest secrets.
You may see your brother as the bad guy every so often, but beneath the surface, he’s a softie who loves you to the ends of the earth. He may be fighting with you all the time, but he just may be the first one who comes running when it’s other people fighting with you.
