When you are in a spot where you are looking to build your client base, one avenue that you must explore is that of event marketing. Event marketing can be a slightly difficult concept to understand because it seems to mean so many different things to so many different people. The thing to keep in mind is that event marketing is simply an event that you put on to promote yourself. You need to find an event marketing strategy that works for you, so consider some of the following.
Giveaways
The giveaway is one of the most common ways to create an event for a brick and mortar business. A giveaway simply involves giving a small prize or service to everyone who comes into your shop on a given day. You might also only give the prize to people who purchase something in the store. A giveaway gets people into the store and interested in what you are doing, which is great for a new business of any sort.
Tour
If your business is mobile, you may find that it is a good idea to take your show on the road. For example, if you offer free computer servicing, you may wish to simply go on a tour of your local area. Set up a booth, and for a few hours, perform some basic computer services. If you bake cupcakes, why not create hundreds of free samples and distribute them to various places in your city? This is a good way to get public interest going and to introduce your services to people who might never have heard of you before.
Charity
A charity event is a great way to get your name out there and to make sure that people know that you are doing the right thing. Choose a cause that you and your business believe in and support, and throw dessert dinner, a silent auction or even a simple awareness raising event. If there is an athletic event that is being held for a good cause, consider finding someone who will participate and who will then allow your business to sponsor them. This allows you to get your information out to the world at large when it is being related to a positive concept.
Use Your Tools
When you are in a situation where you want to take a simple event and make it big, get on the Internet. Take advantage of things like Facebook and Twitter to tell people about your event, and then take advantage of the immediate nature of the Internet to keep people informed even as the event is going on. This builds interest and it also encourages other people to update as well. The more recognition your event can get, the better it is for your business.
If you want to make sure that your business does not fall behind, consider what event marketing can do for you. Event marketing gives people a reason to know who you are and what you do, so see what resources you can commit.
