No one has seen the true image of God. Whether we talk about scripture or even in mythology, mortals who asked for the true form of a god were either turned away or met unhappy endings.
It has been said across different stories that either God has no actual form, or that His true visage is something beyond human understanding. It even warns us that one could not expect to see the true image of God and live to talk about it.
God in Other Cultures
If we talk about the Abrahamic God or the gods of several known pantheons, it is expected that the Supreme Being has person-like attributes. It even goes to the extent that several texts said that God or the gods created man in his image and likeness. God is also given human-like traits. It can feel the many emotions and experiences of the human spectrum.
Other major religions talk of God as ever-present. But you don’t get to imagine Him as a person as more of an experience. This is the case for Allah, where it is meant that He could not be captured in an image by human hand – and trying to do so is an insult to His beauty and grandeur.
People will have different interpretations of God – even those in the same religion have different opinions and takes on how He should be interpreted. Some would like to make it more relatable by attributing an image, while others are more contented in experiencing everything in His grace and glory.
Whether you’re having problems with faith, or you just want to feel inspired in the morning, these God quotes should help your quiet reflections.
