The connection between man and nature has been honored and celebrated from time immemorial, and leaves are the most basic unit of nature. They are the symbol of nature, signifying fertility and growth. They also beautify the earth and indicate alternation of seasons by changing their form and color.
When you’re only a beginner, drawing leaves is a brilliant way to expose yourself to diverse shapes and colors since leaves have range when it comes to those.
Leaves may seem basic and relatively easy to draw, but don’t get too carried away. You will include their unique venation pattern, which requires keen attention to detail. A good tip is to always establish an outline of the leaf before attempting to draw its inner intricacies. It is also recommended that you use a reasonably sharp pencil with a very thin lead. This makes it easier to draw the small veins and helps you erase mistakes easily.
When you are through with your drawing, endeavor to add some color to it. Remember that the color of your leaf has to reflect a particular season, so green is not your only option. As an alternative, and if you’re in the mood for it, you can shade your leaf. If that doesn’t scream creativity, I don’t know what does.
