We all have dreams and hopes for the future. The problem is that when most of us leave our childhood years behind us, we also leave our dreams and the inherent belief in the infinite nature of life. Every single person on the planet today has a talent or skill that they excel at more than other people. In this post, we’ll show you how to expand your skills to live the life you were meant to live.
The first thing you have to do is sit down and write out what you’re good at. This is a short list where you would jot down just three things you know you love to do and are pretty good at given the feedback you’ve received from friends or family. After this, write down the emotions that you experience while doing these things. Then, come up with the obstacles or excuses that have stopped you from doing these things.
In essence, most of us don’t think it’s possible to make a living out of our talents or passion. This is inaccurate and is largely because of the lies we have been fed about ourselves, and the lies we tell ourselves that stop us from fearlessly following our bliss.
After this exercise, the next thing to do would be coming up with a routine or timetable of sorts that designates a few minutes a day to doing what we love. The idea here is to build up a momentum that will stick in the coming weeks. For example, if you love to sing, take about fifteen minutes every day to practice a piece of music five times a week, while mixing things up every other week. By doing this, you create new neural connections in your mind that will help you get better at singing with time. It takes four to six weeks to effect behavioral change and make a habit stick, so try aiming for four weeks of consistently doing what you love.
Another great way of expanding your skills would be to learn a related skill. For instance, if you have a passion for business, you might want to take some time to learn about investing, accounting and bookkeeping. This in the end will save you money and make you a force to be reckoned with in your field.
These related skills are more often than not in high demand, and you will continuously need them, meaning that you’ll be paying someone every time the need for this particular service comes up. This in essence kills two birds with one stone, opening you up to other possibilities and helping you become multi-faceted and dynamic.
Lastly, expanding your life skills meaning letting go of old habits, and finishing unfinished business. Pay your debts, make that call, face your fears and have that difficult conversation. You can only make large changes in life if you have nothing holding you back. This kind of purging primes you to receive the good things that the universe has in store for you.
If you have always wanted to be a writer, singer, performer or world-famous swimmer, you have to fearlessly take that first step that may seem laden with risk. For you to succeed, you have to jump into the abyss and have faith that life won’t let you fall. At the end of the day, only the brave and dynamic individuals get to live out their dreams without fear of judgment or failure. Go out there and claim your success, this is your birthright that was intended for you and nobody else. Living out your ultimate dreams is possible if you practice the points laid out above.
