Growing up, Lil Tecca always harbored dreams of becoming a basketball player. But at the age of 12, he shifted his focus to rap music.

Lessons from Lil Tecca

1. You’re never too young to start

Lil Tecca developed an interest in rapping at the age of 12. Six years later, he is ranked among the world’s finest rappers.

2. Start with what you have and keep going

Tecca started making diss tracks with his friends on his Xbox. At the time, he had no money to pay a recording studio or a big platform to showcase his rapping abilities. Nonetheless, he never gave up on his dreams.

3. Never forget your roots

Lil Tecca was born to Jamaican parents. And Jamaica, as we all know, is the birthplace of reggae. In what seems like a silent tribute to his roots, many of Tecca’s music feature reggae undertones.

Famous Quotes by Lil Tecca

“I don’t care what no one else thinks. You feel me? I don’t care what no one thinks anymore. I’m just going to do me now. You feel me? If people like it, they like it. If they don’t, they don’t. I like it.”

“I’m just me. However, the people perceive me; it’s on them. I’m just being me and putting it out there. I can’t look at what someone else does and go, ‘Oh, I do this different, I created this, this is my style.’ No, [my music] is my style, and however, the people want to look at it, they can look at it.”

“It doesn’t matter if there are fifty bitches that want me right now; I don’t want them. And if there are fifty cars that I could buy right now, I don’t want them. And if there are two hundred different guns that I could afford, I don’t want them. I’m just rapping and making the music that I like.”

“My process of making songs is really like a one-two type of thing. I can go days without making music, and then come back to the studio and get right back into the zone.”

“When I’m out, I’m just doing shows, doing what I gotta do. And the people that I meet, I don’t want to be friends with, so I’m just sticking to the people that I was friends with from the beginning.”

Wrap Up

Lil Tecca lends new meaning to the famous adage ‘age is but a number.’ At 20 years old, Tecca has achieved far more than what many rappers would ever accomplish in their lifetimes.
