Early Life and Career Information
Meek Mill was born on May 6, 1987, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Kathy Williams. Mill kicked off his professional music career as a battle rapper before founding the now-defunct rap group, The Bloodhoundz. In 2007, he released the mixtape, Flamerz, which contributed immensely to his popularity. He followed almost immediately with another mixtape, Flamerz 2 – Hottest in the City.
Mill’s second mixtape put him on the radar of notable record labels and in 2008, the rapper signed his first record deal with T.I’s Grand Hustle Records. In 2011, Meek Mill left Grand Hustle Records and signed with Rick Ross’s Maybach Music Group. A year later, he released his debut album under Maybach Music Group and Warner Bros. Records, titled Dreams and Nightmares.
