To many, the unique prophetic gifts displayed by Prophet Dr. Kofi Danso are mysterious and unexplainable. Many want to know all they can about the impassioned philanthropist, from his life, his experiences, his net worth, his connection to God, and what drove him to found Miracle Arena For All Nations, a multicultural church based out of the heart of Toronto.
According to Prophet Dr. Kofi Danso, he was first called to the church at the age of 12 by a vision of God to join the ministry. Today, he now runs one of the fastest-growing churches in the country, welcoming thousands of congregants and preaching the Gospel.
In this article, we interviewed Prophet Dr. Kofi Danso and asked him the most burning questions about himself, his life, his net worth, his family, his gifts, and more.
Q: You said God came to you as a child in a vision. Can you tell us what that experience was like?
A: Yes, that’s correct. I vividly remember the day. It was as I was praying that I saw a vision of a world map, and on this map was a pedestal that had a cross that was on fire. I then saw myself throw fire on the other nations. I did not fully comprehend it at the time, but the Lord confirmed my desire to do His work and called me to the nations through this vision and others that followed thereafter.
Q: You’ve visited seemingly countless countries, what spurred you on to travel so much?
A: I have traveled and ministered in over 31 nations, and believe it or not, a majority of my time in these nations is spent either in my hotel room praying and seeking the face of God or in the halls and stadiums where I am ministering. My travel is not motivated by pleasure, but by passion; to see lives transformed and impacted in a positive way is rewarding.
Q: What is one of the most memorable experiences you had while traveling?
A: That’s a tough one – there are countless experiences, but one of my most memorable experiences would be in Jamaica. I had just finished ministering and came back to my hotel, I was tired as it was quite late at night, but I felt the spirit of God prompt me to go down to the hotel lobby, I obeyed and went downstairs.
As I was sitting down – I saw a young woman who was dressed quite provocatively, she began to walk towards me and I got uncomfortable and decided to go back to my room. Something told me to stop and speak to her – hesitantly, I approached her and made small talk by asking her where she was going. Long story short, she revealed that she was looking to go to a strip club. I looked at her and felt compelled to tell her that I know of a stripper. As I began to speak, she drew closer, she was eager to know who this stripper was and wanted to meet this stripper.
I began to share with her that this stripper’s name was Jesus – that He loved her so much that He endured the excruciating pain, the stripes on His back, the nails through His hand, all because of love – love for people like her. Tears began to roll down her cheeks as I shared the love of God with her. At the end of the conversation, she shared with me that she had come to the hotel in anticipation of going out and that she intended to commit suicide that night, but now that she learned of the God that stripped Himself for her – she found hope. She gave her life to Jesus and turned her life around. She went to school, graduated, and now is a makeup artist.
Q: What led you to found Miracle Arena For All Nations?
A: Miracle Arena for All Nations was founded based on a promise the Lord had given me in the scripture – Isaiah 2:2; it says the mountain of the Lord’s temple shall be established and all nations shall form unto it…I knew I was called to the Nations from a young age and when I first moved abroad to Amsterdam, I founded God’s Ambassadors International, and the ministry grew in leaps and bounds. After getting married and moving to Canada, with this promise from the Lord – we founded the church here based on this scripture.
Q: Your wife is also a pastor, how did you two meet?
A: Yes, my wife JoAnne is the co-pastor of Miracle Arena for All Nations. We were both quite young when we first met, I had my ministry in Ghana, and she was visiting from Canada. Her cousin who was a member of my church urged her to come and meet this young prophet, and that’s how we first met.
I never intended on getting into a relationship or getting married – I was focused on God and all things ministry related, I felt that a relationship would only be a distraction, but when I met JoAnne, I knew there was something special about her, not only was she beautiful, but she carried herself in a manner I had not seen before. English was not my first language, so I used this opportunity to ask her to tutor me while she was here, we spent many years getting to know each other and got married in 2010. Twelve years after, and eight children later, here we are! She is my greatest blessing.
Q: How do you balance your responsibilities with the church and family life? And with that in mind, do you have advice for entrepreneurs who are also trying to balance career and personal life?
A: Anyone that is called as a pastor can attest that it is unlike any other profession – it can be timeless, thankless, and requires you to be sacrificial. There are so many people that are hurting and in need of help, counsel, and resources, and I am burdened when I see them; I count it a privilege to be in a position that God entrusts me with His people to be able to provide sound counsel and help in any manner possible.
While I would like to say there is a balance – there are countless times when I have finished about 5 services in a day and then have to sit up to provide counsel to members, sometimes till the early hours of the morning, times when my family has had to sacrifice time together for me to be able to serve the people but I am extremely grateful that my family understands the responsibility of the calling.
We do make the most of our time together and those moments are priceless. The one thing that I will never compromise on is my time with God. I value it too deeply to allow anyone or thing to take priority. I do believe this is what has sustained me in ministry for the past 25 years.
Who you have in your inner circle and your relationship with people is important to carry you to your next level, I always say life is not about making income but about making an impact. This is my advice to entrepreneurs that are seeking balance in career and their personal life would be to learn to be wise with your time; give your time to those that need and value it, and you will find a balance as you learn to prioritize it.
Q: What are the key takeaways you want members of your church to leave with after a service?
A: My desire is that anyone that attends a service should leave transformed. Whether it is a person’s first time in the service or whether they have been attending the church for the past decade – you can never encounter the living God and leave the same way you came. I know this to be true based on the numerous testimonies that we receive on a weekly basis. I want people to encounter the God that I know and leave knowing their lives will never remain at the same level as they entered the service.
