Megan’s mother, who worked as a bill collector and had a rap career, greatly influenced the rapper who accompanied her to the recording studio after school. While waiting for her mother, Megan would listen to the instrumentals and sometimes write her rhymes to the beat.
Megan attended Pearland high school as a teenager but did not tell anyone of her ambition to become a rapper. She instead focused on cheerleading and joining the school’s dance teams.
In 2013, while attending Prairie A&M University, Megan was motivated to start rapping and participated in rap battles. The rapper then uploaded her freestyle on social media and recorded some success, amassing a significant number of followers.
As an adolescent, Megan was often called a stallion because of her height and thick frame. She later adopted the professional name Megan Thee Stallion and became known.
In 2016, Megan released her mixtape “Rich Ratchet” on SoundCloud, followed by another mixtape in 2017, “Megan Mix.” She made her official debut, releasing her first professional EP, “Make It Hot,” in 2017 and subsequently released her second EP, “Tina Snow,” in 2018.

Megan has had her fair share of controversies throughout her career. In 2020, for her Ep “Sugar” to be released, the rapper had a legal tussle with her first record label, 1501 Certified Entertainment.
On social media, she also announced that her former label was preventing her from releasing her remix of the Korean Pop Group, BTS single, “Butter.” She, however, was granted permission by the court to release the song.
