Early Life and Football Career
Michael Strahan was born on November 21, 1971, in Houston, Texas, United States, to Gene Willie Strahan and Louise Traylor Strahan. His father is a retired Army Major as well as a former boxer who’s best known for his 1 – 1 record against future boxing heavyweight Ken Norton, whereas his mother is a basketball coach.
Strahan began playing organized football at Mannheim American High School, a United States Department of Defense Dependent High School located in in Käfertal (Mannheim). He was a linebacker for the school’s football team, the Mannheim Bison, in 1985.
Strahan was not involved with football again until his senior year in Westbury High School. But thanks to his spectacular display for that one season, he received a football scholarship offer from Texas Southern University. Strahan joined Texas Southern University and played for the college’s football team as a defensive end.
