Early Life and Career Information
Milena Markovna Kunis was born on August 14, 1983, in Chernivtsi, a city in Ukraine. Mila was born Jewish all around, and the common language in her family is Russian. However, at the age of 7, her parents decided to move to Los Angeles, California, with her older brother Michael.
Their family’s relocation was in hopes of giving Mila and Michael a better life and escaping antisemitism in Ukraine. Furthermore, her parents had to give up all their qualifications and degrees as they were not transferable in the United States.
She attended Rosewood Elementary School in Los Angeles. One of Mila’s struggles was her inability to speak English. According to her, moving to the United States felt like being blind and deaf at age seven. Mila attended Hubert Howe Bancroft Middle School. Though during most of her high school years, she had on-set tutors while filming That 70’s Show. Subsequently, she graduated from Fairfax High School in 2001.
