The Occupy movement has been in the news for many previous weeks. If you have been living under a rock, here is a summed-up purpose it holds for the people involved. “This Occupy movement empowers real people to create real change from the bottom up.
We want to see a general assembly in every backyard, on every street corner because we don’t need Wall Street and we don’t need politicians to build a better society.” The protests are accumulating more followers while coming up with creative ways to engage the notable 1%.
Thousands of people around the world have taken to streets in 1,500+ cities/towns. Their core elements of the protest are against economic inequality, corruption, high unemployment, and last but not least the embarrassing influence of corporations on governments.
The movement was started by a Canadian activist organisation called AdBusters. Being organized in New York’s Zuccotti Park, a series of ongoing non-violent protests were sparked by the growing injustice between the 99% poor and the 1% super rich. As an outcome creating the ‘We Are the 99%’ slogan.
Occuprint, a recent website we stumbled upon, provides creative-commons protest posters from around the globe. While visiting the site, you will notice that each poster is available for download. Much aspiration/creativity was put towards the aggregating collection.
Occuprint was born after The Occupied Wall Street Journal asked to guest curate an issue dedicated to the poster art of the global Occupy movement. The sites goal is to connect people, while providing a base of support for print-related media within the #Occupy movement.
Today for your viewing pleasure we selected a few great designs. All, showcase one strong message in different ways. Each poster is credited to the author as well as the origin.
As you will see below, artistic ideas behind the works are quite broad. While holding the opportunity, I would also like to mention one more thing. Recently a documentary called Thrive was released on the magical day of 11/11/11.
Watching the two hour eye-opening enlightenment, has changed my views on life and many other circumstances. Running an inspirational website, I would feel guilty not telling people about it. Since the documentary fits in perfectly what the people are fighting for, we thought it would be a great motivator for the protesters.
Please Note: Our mission is to showcase the inspirational creativity presented by talented artists that are pro Occupy.
