It has been said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Have you ever stopped to realize the beauty of things around you? Sometimes, even simple reflections from a glassy surface can be such a thing of beauty. I for one find the reflections seen on dewdrops quite fascinating. Imagine drops of water accumulated overnight on a leaf – it’s like the world in a much smaller scale being carried by something so fragile!
There are many kinds of reflective surfaces you can photograph and the results can be amazing when you capture the photos at just the right angle. Sometimes, even the tinted glass of a car can be a great subject to photograph when it reflects something beautiful! Do you live somewhere where it frequently rains? Take time to look at the puddles and see what beauty they may have for you.
Sometimes, even just a glass of water can give you a whole new perspective on things and may invite you to take photos of otherwise ordinary things! A calm lake reflecting the surrounding trees, or the colors of the setting sun on the sky would also be a magical view to behold.
If you don’t have access to bodies of water which can reflect the grand beauty of nature, shiny objects like marbles, glass globes, mirrors, and even sunglasses can be your source of great reflection photographs. Look around you and take time to reflect on the beauty of these reflected images. You might find a different level of appreciation for things when you look at them from this new perspective.
Reflection photography can bring interesting twists and effects to your photos. If you’re a budding photographer, or perhaps a fan of great photography shots, here are some magical examples of reflection photography which would surely tickle your fancy and bring out the creative in you:
