Lessons from RiceGum
1. Your passion overrides academic achievements
RiceGum dropped out of the University of Nevada during his first year so he could throw his full weight behind his social media career. That he eventually became an internet sensation is proof that passion can often override academic accomplishments.
2. Find your niche
Excelling in the rap industry consists largely in carving your own niche. It appears RiceGum understands this invaluable trick, which explains why he focuses almost exclusively on diss tracks.
3. In showbiz, every publicity counts
RiceGum has been a subject of controversy for years. He received backlash in 2019 for his partnership with the “Mystery Brand” gambling site. And as a teenager, the rapper earned negative publicity for his criticism of young social media stars for posting unsuitable musical videos on Musical.ly. However, RiceGum leveraged the backlash he received from these two incidents to grow his personal brand.
