In today’s world, technology is advancing at rates that are beyond our imagination. Fields that once had nothing to do with technology are also using technology in one way or another, let it be medicine, businesses, education, they all are using technology for better yields and more ease.
Same goes for the field of Event planning. Event tech trends are evolving faster than ever before. With advancements in technology, event tech is also always evolving.
Here are some trends that are being used all over the world at events and behind the scenes event planning.
1. Artificial Intelligence (AI):
Imagine an event with 10,000+ attendees, what is the first thing that comes to your mind? Managing and giving all your attendees a personalized experience, something that was impossible merely a decade ago, is now possible with the help of artificial intelligence.
Now, when the term artificial intelligence is mentioned, most people picture a humanoid robot, we have seen robots like that in recent years such as Sophia, a humanoid robot developed by Hong Kong based company Hanson Robotics.
But such cutting edge technology is something that isn’t available for mainstream use just yet. That doesn’t mean artificial intelligence isn’t being used at all for events. Currently, AI is being used to program Chatbots and smart event apps.
There are many free to use Chatbot plugins available out there for WordPress, Facebook messenger and apps that you can integrate to make the experience of your attendees more personalized, answering their questions faster than any human, while the rest of the staff can focus on more important matters.
That is just one use case of this amazing technology, there are a ton of other uses that can make your event way more efficient.
2. Multi-Purpose Apps:
After the introduction of iPhone and Android OS by Google a decade ago. Apps have become one of the most integral part of our lives, same goes for the event planning industry.
Using apps to personalize the experience of attendees is being practiced a lot. But that’s not where this all ends. Apps designed to work as “walkie-talkies” are used for coordination at events. Other than that, many apps give you the ability to customize them according to your needs and make them seem like they were custom made for your event.
Special apps can be used to survey your audience at the end of the event, polling, and feedback collection, you can go all paperless, execute better and efficient check-ins.
All this can be done just by a few iPads or tablets given to the event management team. And to put icing on the cake, there are a ton of companies out there providing iPad hire for events” services.
3. Live Streaming:
Livestreams have grown in popularity after the introduction of 4G technology quite a lot. Fast mobile internet connectivity allows for high quality video streaming from any location.
And with a dramatic increase in mobile camera quality. All you need is a good smartphone and a data connection and you are golden.
4. VR and AR:
“Virtual reality” or VR technology has seen its ups and downs during the recent years, but with the advancements in the computer hardware, VR has become quite popular at events.
Let it be a gaming event or a company like IKEA showing of their products in your home by the help of “Augmented reality” or AR apps. Companies use AR technology to show case their products without actually having the product at hand or showing off concepts using AR glasses like Microsoft HoloLens.
Gaming events use VR and AR equipment quite extensively. And again, a lot of companies are providing services like iPad rental for events.
5. Projection mapping:
Conventional projectors project an image onto a flat screen. But why stop there?
That’s where projection mapping comes into play. All you need is a little bit of imagination and you can turn any surface into a 3D interactive display.
This can be used to make really cool looking optical illusions, drawing 3D maps, social media walls, showcase art etc. there are many great examples all over the internet where events are truly transformed just by the smart use of a mere projector.
