It’s long been established that swimming carries plenty of benefits. Plus, it’s great for any age, from toddlers to seniors. There are those who do it for fun, for fitness, and for competition.
No matter the reason, swimming is fun, it helps you stay healthy, and can even de-stress you. Not to mention that you don’t exactly need a pool to do it either. If you live near a lake or the sea, then it’s something you can do twice or thrice a week!
Benefits of Swimming
As this activity works a lot of your muscles, it’s an instant full body workout. If you’re the kind who don’t like regular exercises because you sweat or because you’re just not comfortable at the gym, then maybe swimming is the exercise for you. It burns calories by the hour: an average person who weighs 130 pounds can lose up to 590 calories, especially if you swim fast.
Another great reason to take a dive is that it’s therapeutic, too. Being around water is calming and relaxing; which explains why most folks love the beach! Been working too hard or thinking about a lot of things lately? Visit your community pool and swim a few laps. It’s fun and inexpensive.
Don’t know how? It’s never too late to learn. Swimming is easy, and is a wonderful skill to have at your disposal.
