Miranda Cosgrove was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, to Tom Cosgrove, a dry-cleaning business owner, and Chris, a homemaker. She is of Irish, English, and French lineage. She is an only child. Cosgrove was homeschooled from the sixth grade till she went to university.
